Firewood BTU Ratings (Beta)
These Firewood BTU rating tables are my attempt to supply accurate firewood-specific BTU values, based on reputable and proven data. I have found many firewood BTU ratings are inaccurate for firewood. Many also do not supply sources or how they arrived at their BTU values. You can read how I built my firewood BTU rating tables here.
Note: Your stove efficiency will also reduce the provided BTU values based on its burn efficiency. If you want to factor in stove efficiency, use my Firewood Calculator.
Tree Species | Wood Type | Weight | BTU/Cord (million) | Burn Time | Coals | Ash | Rating | Seasoning | Cord Weight |
---|
Legend:
- Burn Time: A rough estimate of how long this firewood will burn.
- Coals: Estimated amount of coals created by the firewood.
- Ash: Estimated amount of ash content left behind after burning.
- Rating: Read about ratings here
- Seasoning: Time to dry (under 20% moisture) under optimal conditions (split, stacked off ground, and top covered in an area with good airflow).
A cord is calculated assuming 85cu/ft of solid wood.
